Deep dive into Airbnb ($ABNB)
Most people miss what's coming next
1.0 Introduction
Craigslist was one of the first platforms to connect with strangers online, but it offered little to no built-in trust.
Modern marketplaces (Uber, Airbnb, eBay, and UpWork) solve this problem. Although they operate in different industries, they have a lot in common.
They don’t just match supply and demand; they institutionalize trust through two-way ratings, secure payments, and protection for both sides of the transaction. Their platform fee (also known as take-rate) isn’t just for making the connection; it’s the price of ensuring that the service is delivered and the payment is made in a way that individual parties alone could not.
Airbnb is an outstanding company and deserves a deep dive. I believe most people miss what’s coming next.
